Boyzone star to go on tour
RONAN KEATING will be taking to the stage in February and March 2010 on a UK tour to showcase classic tracks from his album Songs For My Mother released in March this year as well as performing some of his greatest hits.
Songs For My Mother went to No 1. in the UK and Ireland, and is a beautiful and evocative collection of songs that Ronan remembers his mum listening to throughout his childhood. All of the songs on the album were carefully selected by Ronan and so have a special place in his heart. Along with traditional folk songs such as Wild Mountain Thyme and Carrickfergus, the album includes tracks by revered musicians such as Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and Elvis, as well as Ronan’s version of Joshua Kadison’s song Mama‘s Arms, a song that helped Ronan through his grieving for his mother Marie.
To date Ronan has released five solo albums, three of which went straight to number one. Ronan is listed in the Guinness Book Of Records for being the only artist ever to have 30 consecutive top 10 singles in the UK chart, having beaten the likes of Elvis. With two sell-out world tours under his belt, an Ivor Novello and BMI songwriting awards, an autobiography, a role as ambassador for Christian Aid and sales in excess of 22 million albums across the globe, Ronan’s lengthy and triumphant career shows no signs of slowing down just yet.
In 2007 Ronan got back together with his chart-topping band Boyzone. 2008 and 2009 saw the band conquer the charts again and sell-out two arena tours. After the success of these tours, Ronan is looking forward to getting back out onto the road
His lengthy and triumphant career shows no signs of slowing down just yet. A dedicated fund-raiser, Ronan and his family set up The Marie Keating Foundation in memory of his late mother, which funds mobile cancer awareness units in Ireland.
Ronan ran his first London Marathon in 2008 to raise money for Cancer Research UK completing his second in April this year. February 2009 saw Ronan join his friend Gary Barlow climb Kilimanjaro for Comic Relief raising over a staggering £4 million.
Don’t miss seeing Ronan Keating live at the New Theatre Oxford on Tuesday, March 16.

A total of 150 officers, who are all paying their own way to the Windy City, will run the Chicago Marathon in aid of the Marie Keating Foundation.

Ultratravel silent auction
A French lunch for four, with return jet and helicopter transfers; three nights at The Plaza Hotel in New York; five nights in Dubai... Place your bid in our silent auction for the trip of a lifetime - and support the Marie Keating Foundation charity at the same time.
Following their mother Marie’s death in 1998, singer Ronan Keating and each member of the Keating family promised that they would do everything they could to bring an end to breast cancer. They committed to provide all women and their families with the necessary information to prevent cancer or to detect it at its earliest stages, with their collective aim to “enlighten not frighten".
The Marie Keating Foundation is the realisation of a family’s dedication – it is a promise to themselves in action. Through three mobile information units, the foundation’s dedicated nurses have enlightened almost 100,000 people about the causes and risk factors of breast and other cancers. “Men Keeping Fit” is now a successful annual campaign and has significantly raised awareness among men of testicular and prostate cancer. The foundation also finances other areas: the refurbishment of hospital oncology waiting rooms, to make them more comfortable for patients; a comfort fund for those in financial difficulty as a result of their illness; and education at schools to teach young people about cancer and its prevention.
Ronan Keating at the 2009 Ultra's (The annual Ultratravel awards) spoke about the aims and goals of the foundation, which provides its services free of charge. Ultimately, it would like mobile units to be available to everyone. Which is why Ultratravel has asked travel companies to donate luxury holidays for a silent auction, to help raise funds for the charity. The 21 lots are listed here.

ITV1 to test out musical tribute format for series
By Robert Shepherd
Amanda Holden and Ronan Keating will front a new music tribute format from ITV1 that could become a series.
Celebrating The Carpenters is a 60-minute primetime pilot from CPL and Universal Music’s inhouse production arm, Globe Productions, with modern acts from different genres playing their own interpretations of The Carpenters’ songs. The event will be shot in front of a studio audience.
The show is being made in collaboration with Richard Carpenter, who will offer musical advice to the new acts about the task they are asked to undertake. If Celebrating The Carpenters is a success, the format could be turned into a series, with different artists’ music subjected to modern cover versions.
Acts already confirmed to appear include Jamie Cullum and The Feeling, and the show is expected to go out towards the end of this year to coincide with the 40th anniversary of The Carpenters’ first LP.

Organisers predict the gig, scheduled for February 24 at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre’s Press and Journal Arena, will sell out fast.
Keating, who was reunited with Boyzone in 2007 after an earlier split, has released five solo albums, four of which went to number one in the UK chart. His latest album, Songs for My Mother, was released in memory of his mother Marie, who died of breast cancer in 1998.
